Payments and Refunds Policy

This policy is part of the Terms of Service and explains how money flows through NAL — how you pay, what you can spend, how you withdraw, and when refunds are available.

Effective date: 2026-05-15

1. The NAL Wallet

1.1. Every NAL account has one wallet denominated in US dollars (USD). The wallet holds credits.

1.2. Credits in the wallet come from:

  • top-ups — money you pay through Stripe or YooKassa, converted to credits at $1 = 1 credit (less any payment-processor surcharge stated at checkout);
  • promotional credits — credits NAL grants you (welcome bonuses, referrals, campaigns);
  • authoring revenue — your 80% share of credits other users spend reacting to, commenting on, or otherwise engaging with your Guild content (see Guild Addendum);
  • refunds — credits returned to your wallet from a refused or rolled-back action.

1.3. Credits in the wallet can be:

  • spent on per-action priced features (see Pricing);
  • withdrawn back to your original payment method, subject to Section 4;
  • left in the wallet indefinitely — purchased credits do not expire. Promotional credits do expire on the date stated when granted.

1.4. Credits are not money. NAL is not a bank, payment institution, or money-services business. Credits do not bear interest, may not be used as a savings vehicle, and may only be used or withdrawn through the mechanisms NAL provides.

2. Pricing

2.1. Per-action prices are published at /en/legal/pricing, which is regenerated from the backend configuration each deploy.

2.2. Prices may change. The price applied to your action is the price in effect at the time you initiate the action.

2.3. Reservations. Some actions (LLM inference, media generation) reserve credits up-front and finalise on completion. If the action is cheaper than the reservation (fewer tokens generated, smaller output), the unused portion is returned to your wallet within minutes. If the reservation expires without completion, all reserved credits are returned.

2.4. Free tiers. Some Services offer a daily free quota (e.g., Guild NL-to-DSL translation = 30 calls per day). Free-tier usage does not debit the wallet.

3. Top-ups

3.1. You may top up your wallet with a credit card, debit card, or supported wallet (Apple Pay, Google Pay) through Stripe (international) or YooKassa (RU/CIS).

3.2. Top-ups are processed in real time. Credits appear in your wallet within seconds of payment confirmation.

3.3. Minimum top-up: USD 5.00 (or local-currency equivalent). Maximum top-up per transaction: USD 1,000.00. Limits may be raised on request by emailing billing@nal.digital.

3.4. The payment processor may decline a top-up for risk reasons independent of NAL. If a top-up is declined, no credits are added and your card is not charged (or is auto-refunded if a pending authorisation was raised).

4. Withdrawals

4.1. You may withdraw the withdrawable balance of your wallet at any time, subject to the rules below.

4.2. Withdrawable balance is the sum of:

  • credits added via top-up that have not yet been spent, and
  • authoring revenue you have received and that has cleared a 14-day hold period (held against potential refund or chargeback on the originating user's payment).

It does not include:

  • promotional credits,
  • credits currently reserved for in-flight actions,
  • authoring revenue still inside the 14-day hold period.

4.3. Withdrawals are paid to the original payment method where possible (Stripe / YooKassa source card). Where the original method has expired, NAL may pay to a verified alternative (bank transfer for amounts above USD 100) after identity verification.

4.4. Withdrawal minimum: USD 20.00. Withdrawals below the minimum remain in your wallet until you accumulate enough.

4.5. Processing time: Stripe payouts typically settle in 1–5 business days; YooKassa typically 1–3 business days; bank transfers up to 10 business days.

4.6. Fees: NAL does not charge a withdrawal fee. The payment processor may charge a fee, which is deducted from the withdrawal amount and shown at confirmation.

4.7. KYC / AML. For cumulative withdrawals exceeding USD 1,000.00 per calendar year, NAL may require identity verification (government ID, proof of address). For withdrawals exceeding USD 10,000.00 NAL may require additional documentation to comply with anti-money-laundering law.

4.8. No third-party payouts. Withdrawals can only be paid to a method registered to you. We do not pay to third parties.

5. Refunds

5.1. Failed actions are refunded automatically. If an action you paid for fails to complete (LLM error, media-generation crash, network fault), the full charge is returned to your wallet, usually within minutes. The receipt of the failed action contains a reference and the refund correlation ID.

5.2. Disputed actions. If an action completed but did not deliver what you asked for, contact billing@nal.digital within 30 days of the action with the action ID. NAL will review and, at our discretion, refund the charge in part or in full. Reviews typically complete within 7 business days.

5.3. Mistaken top-ups. If you top up the wrong amount or by mistake, contact billing@nal.digital within 14 days. We will refund the top-up to the source card, less any spend that has already occurred and less the payment processor's non-refundable fees.

5.4. No general refund right after spend. Once credits have been spent on a successful action (you got the output, the reaction was recorded, the file was uploaded), the spend is final. This is because NAL has already paid downstream costs (inference, storage, payouts to content authors).

5.5. Chargebacks. If you dispute a NAL charge with your card issuer without first attempting to resolve through billing@nal.digital, NAL may suspend your account pending investigation. A chargeback found in NAL's favour may result in account termination.

5.6. Mandatory consumer protection. Where local consumer-protection law grants you a non-waivable right to refund or cooling-off period (e.g., the 14-day right of withdrawal for digital content in the EU), that right applies. We will honour it on request, even where Section 5.4 would otherwise apply.

6. Authoring Revenue (Guild)

6.1. When another user spends credits to react to, comment on, or otherwise engage with content you authored on Guild, 80% of the credit charged is deposited to your wallet as authoring revenue. NAL retains 20% as a platform fee.

6.2. Authoring revenue is subject to a 14-day hold (Section 4.2) before becoming withdrawable, to allow time for the originating user's top-up to clear refund / chargeback windows.

6.3. Authoring revenue earned through abusive activity (Section 3 of the AUP) may be withheld or reversed. See the Guild Addendum for the abuse-detection rules.

6.4. Authoring revenue is taxable income in most jurisdictions. NAL does not withhold tax. You are responsible for declaring and paying tax on what you earn.

7. Subscriptions

7.1. Some Services may be offered on a subscription basis. Subscription terms (price, billing cycle, included quota, auto-renewal) are stated on the subscription's checkout page and are part of these Terms when you accept them.

7.2. Cancellation. You may cancel a subscription at any time. The subscription remains active through the end of the current billing cycle, with no further charges.

7.3. Pro-rated refund on cancellation: none, except as required by mandatory consumer-protection law.

7.4. Pro-rated refund on discontinuation by NAL. If NAL discontinues a paid subscription Service before the end of your billing cycle, the unused portion is refunded pro rata to your wallet (from which you can withdraw).

8. Currency, Taxes, and Receipts

8.1. Currency. All prices are USD. Top-ups in other currencies are converted by Stripe / YooKassa at the time of payment using their published rates.

8.2. Taxes. Prices exclude value-added tax, sales tax, and other consumption taxes. Where NAL is required to charge such tax (e.g., VAT on EU consumer sales above the threshold), the tax is added at checkout and shown on the receipt.

8.3. Receipts. Every top-up and every withdrawal generates a receipt available in your account billing history.
